Westcoast Brewing

Westcoast Brewing is a fictional brewery inspired by the bright vibrant lifestyle of the average west-coaster. It is influenced by the animals that inhabit British Columbia and the love we have for them.

The idea behind the logo was inspired by the ebb and flow of the ocean, the sea foam that marbles the surface of the water. The ocean can be somewhat of an identity to the people of west coast so it was important to capture that essence in the logo.

The liquor industry has a competitive shelve presence. One of the best ways to be noticed is to literally pop off the shelf. Colour is a great way to catch the consumers attention. The millennial generation lives in a digital age, our attention spans are limited and we’re constantly looking for the next big thing. The Westcoast Brewing brand embodies the vibrance and youth of the pacific northwest and that is reflected in it’s cans and artwork. 

The artwork for the cans is based on the many animals that call the west coast home. Drawn in a geometric, polygon style to reflect the digital age in which we live. It’s a gentle nod to low-poly video gaming graphics of the past.

Beer is as old as time it seems, it’s always been popular and will continue to be. With this demand for a more flavourful, unique beer experience people are straying from the bigger companies and finding themselves in the small breweries and brewpubs that are more local to them. This is where the idea for Westcoast brewing came from. There are tons of breweries in Vancouver that are proud of their Canadian heritage and display this proudly on their labels and bottles, however they all seem to be fairly area specific. I wanted to create a beer that felt local but could appeal to a larger audience. Westcoast Brewing might appeal mainly to Canadians who live in BC but it does not exclude the entirety of the west coast of North America.
